Information What you need to know
In New Zealand’s South Island weather can change quickly and the many micro climates mean it can be fine weather in one area and different in the next. For your safety and enjoyment, all scenic flights are subject to weather conditions at the time of flying. If you are unable to fly due to adverse weather we can re-schedule your flight at your convenience or you will be provided with a full refund.
Flights, landings or routes may vary to those described due to local weather conditions. Any changes are at the discretion of the experienced pilots. Flight times are approximate and include your landing time.
WHAT TO BRING
Even in the summertime, New Zealand’s alpine environment can produce cool temperatures and fresh snow. We recommend you bring warm clothing and sturdy footwear on all of our scenic flights year round.
Many of our flights allow snow landings and although it may be a hot sunny day, the snow is wet and cold so wearing appropriate footwear for your comfort is recommended.
We also recommend sunglasses, a camera for those spectacular scenic snapshots and a sense of adventure!
A courtesy coach is available at all of our heli-base locations for transfers to and from your local accommodation or central town location. Just ask our customer service team when making a booking to enquire about courtesy coach transfers.
If you are driving yourself be sure to allow plenty of time to check in before your reserved flight time. We recommend arriving 15 minutes before your scheduled departure. Driving distances to our locations are as follows. Please note: Driving times are approximate and are subject to current road conditions.

Reservations are recommended in advance to avoid disappointment. Simply visit our book now page to select your preferred location and scenic flight then follow the prompts to complete your online booking.
Please Note: A credit card is required to pre-authorise and guarantee your booking. Payment for your flight can be made on the day of your departure. Should you fail to show for the trip when space is guaranteed, your credit card will be debited with the total amount of the booked activity.
All flights have a minimum passenger number for departures. Bookings will be accepted for numbers less than the required minimum as we will coordinate to achieve the required minimum. Clients are required to reconfirm their reservation the day prior to flying by calling The Helicopter Line base where they have booked to fly. For contact numbers visit our contact us page.
Cancellation and Refund Policy
Should inclement weather prevent a flight at the booked location, the same prepaid voucher will be accepted at any of The Helicopter Line aviation bases for a flight of similar duration and price. If you are unable to re-schedule the flight then a full refund will be provided.
No refund will be given for no shows or changes you make to your booking less than 24 hours prior to departure.
