What’s the best part of your job?  Starting my heli in the morning for a day’s flying and the people I work with.

What are some of the most exciting things you’ve done as a pilot?  Working in Southeast Asia, search and rescue up to Burma from Cambodia, and flying in and around the Queenstown area.

When I’m not flying I’m into… hangliding, rocketry and model aircrafts.

What’s the best part of your job? Being surrounded by a good crew, the variety of flying we do and the odd Heli-Bungy!

When I’m not flying I’m into… Filming and editing movies to showcase this great land

What’s the best part of your job?  Seeing the landscape we fly around through a different set of eyes every flight. The excitement and enjoyment people get seems to be contagious.

What are some of the most exciting things you’ve done as a pilot? It’s a career that’s allowed me to travel worldwide and experience a diversity of cultures.

When I’m not flying I’m into… Watersking, mountain biking and hunting.

How long have you been flying with The Helicopter Line? I started with The Helicopter Line in 2013, prior to that I was based on Papa New Guinea and Fiji. 

What’s the best part of your job? To be able to see parts of New Zealand and the world that are only accessible by air, rarely visited and allow others the opportunity to view them as well. 

What are some of the most exciting things you’ve done as a pilot? Aerial filimg, long lining, medivacs, heli skydiving and flood/cyclone evacuation work. 

When I’m not flying I’m into… I really enjoy diving, hunting and fishing.

Where are you from? Originally born in the North Island but now reside in Queenstown.

How long have you been flying with The Helicopter Line? Started initially in 2000 as chief pilot then went overseas in 2006. For 8 years I was part time check and training pilot. Then in November 2014 I re-joined The Helicopter Line as chief pilot.

What’s the best part of your job? Working with young, vibrant, knowledgeable people who love their jobs and get stuck into their varied work roles. Meeting/flying tourists from different ethnicities and backgrounds. Tourism is increasing every year and it’s great to be part of this industry. But the best of all is I get to fly a heli in the most beautiful part of the world - New Zealand.

What are some of the most exciting things you’ve done as a pilot? Flying/landing/working in some of the most remote places in the world. Many exciting things come to mind but I’d need a book to write about them all.

When I’m not flying I’m into… Trying not to eat too many chocolate fish! Spending time at home doing jobs like gardening, walking the dog, riding my mountain bike when the weather allows and trying to make sense of this crazy world we live in!!

What are some of the most exciting things you’ve done as a pilot?  That would have to be flying around Antarctica.

When I’m not flying I’m into…When im not flying im into… enjoying life, and anything it throws at me.

What’s the best part of your job? Getting off the farm, meeting such a wide variety of people and being able to show them our unique, pristine country.

What are some of the most exciting things you’ve done as a pilot? Survey work and night flying......with this job, everyday is an adventure.

When I’m not flying I’m into… Farming beef cattle and merino sheep on Cecil Peak Station, family, reading, watching a good movie.

What are some of the most exciting things you’ve done as a pilot?  Flying in Papau New Guinea, long lining on seismic operations and off shore operations in Guyana and Suriname, South America.

When I’m not flying I’m into… Kayak fishing, surfing and spending time with family and friends.

How long have you been flying with The Helicopter Line? I’ve been with THL 3 years, but have been commercially flying in this area for 33 years.

What’s the best part of your job? I still sometimes stop and take in the vista that surrounds us and think ‘actually, this is pretty amazing’.

What are some of the most exciting things you’ve done as a pilot? Some events when flying rescue helicopters did occasionally raise the adrenalin level slightly.

When I’m not flying I’m into… Lowering local property values with saxophone noise. Traversing the hinterland on my adventure motorcycle. Having intelligent conversation with my Scottish Terrier McTavish. Providing a home for aged Volkswagon Beetles.

What’s the best part of your job? Having an office view that is forever changing and being able to share it with so many people.

What are some of the most exciting things you’ve done as a pilot? Spraying crops in Australia and working on flood relief.
